FACTORY STATISTICS.
NEARLY THREE THOUSAND FACTORIES REGISTERED. We have procured from the Department; of Labour the number of factories registered up to date in the various towns of the Colony. Christchurch heads the list; with 628 factories, and Auckland follows after a long' interval with 468. Wellington is third with 430, and Dunedin fou; fch. with 425. The figures are as follow Christchurch, 628 ; Auckland, 468; Wellington, 430; Dunedin, 425 ; Invereargdl, 127; Napier, 106 ; Timaru, 101; Wanganaq 96 ; New Plymouth, 89 ; Nelson, 73; Blenheim, 61; Ashburton, 61 ; Rangiora, 58 ; Palmerston North, 54 ; Thames, 39; Qroymouth, 31; Gisborne, 29 ; Leeston, 28.
