Up to the present the petition circulated by the Wellington Scenery Preservation Society praying for the removal of the shelter sheds near the Queen’s Wharf has received the signatures of 920 leading residents and business people of Wellington. All the lists are not yet to hand, but it is expected that the number of signatures will total considerably over 1000. Owing to the detention of the Mararoa at Auckland until Wednesday, wet weather preventing the working of cargo, her departure from Wellington for Lyttelton and Dunedin has been postponed until 7 jp.nj, on Friday.
