AQUATICS.
The tenth annual race between the Wanganui Collegiate School crew and a crew from the Wanganui Club came off last week at Wanganui, and after a slashing. I race the Club four won by half a length I from their formidable opponents. The school have won six of these interesting contests, and the Wanganui Club four. The crews on this last occasion were as follow : School —H. Cooper (stroke), O. Williams (3), D. Hewitt (2), D. J. Willis (bow), and W. H. Warren (cox) ; Wanganui Club— F. Purnell (stroke), Haycock (3), Tilley (2), Gf. H. Duigan (bow), and Tasker (cox). j Auckland, March 23.* In the swimming match between Placke and Bines across the Eangitoto Channel, from the Beacon to Cheltenham Beach, a distance of four miles, for i>2s aside, Placke won easily, Bines giving up when the former was 300 yards ahead. Bines said he took cramp.
