LATE COMMERCIAL.

Laery and Co. (Ltd ) report of their horse sale at the Nag's Head yards to-day as follows ; —As an experiment we decided last week to hold sales of horses on Wednesdays as well as Saturdays, and the result of today's auction more than exceeded our expectations. The sale proved an unqualified success, the attendance of buyei-3 being vovy large and the bidding spirited. The entries were numerous, and the quality of the horses left little to be desired. -.Nearly every horse showing decent breeding was cleared at satisfactory prices. For a brown mare by Crown Jewel —Lady Jane, we obtained .£26 ; for a bay horse by Sardonyx, <£l7 ; pair of carriage fillies, .£25; pair of light draughts, .£27; pair light carriage horses, .£2l; 1 buggy mare, .£l2; 7 hacks and light harness horses at prices ranging from .£6 to .£9 ; screws, £1 to £2 10s. Freeman E. Jackson and Co.'s Johnsonville stock report (telegraphed to-night to the Times) is as follows : The usual supply of fat cattle came forward, and prices were fully maintained. The sheep pens were overcroweded with fat and store ewes. No wethers worth mentioning were yarded, and prices were lower than at last sale. Pigs were in medium supply ; 65 were yarded, and they brought last sale rates. Cattle—Best bullocks, £7 to c£B 5s ; others, £6 to £6 17s, equal to 18s the 1001 b. Sheep—Fat ewes, 6s to 7s 3d ; mixed light and wethers, 7s Id to 7s 4d; store ewes, 2s 6d to 3s 9d ; merino wethers, 5s 9d ; best rams, 7s to 7s 2d; others, 5s o'd to 6s 6d ; stores, 2s to 3s 6d. Pigs—Small baconers, 30s to 375; porkers, 19s to 25s ; small porkers, 16s 6d.

The following is the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company's report of the Addington market (telegraphed to-night to the Times) : —Fat cattle full supply; slack competition. Prime steers, .£7 to £7 15s ; cows and heifers', .£5 to £6 10s ; beef, 16s 6d to 20s per 1001 b. Store cattle—--150 yarded; demand extremely dull, and values suffered a substantial decline.
