Palmerston North, March 9. At a meeting of I'riendly Society delegates, it was decided that a picnic bo held at Ashurst on Easter Monday. A committee will be appointed, consisting of two representatives from each lodge. Mr Pirani, M.H.8., is to address the electors at Apiti on Tuesday evening, 19th. Tho Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr J. 11. Baker, was interviewed to-day by a deputation with reference to tho reservation of the watershed of the Palmerston water supply. He agreed to have the conditions of survey drawn up at once, so that the Borough Council may get the survey carried out.

Prince Francis Joseph of Battenberg was a passenger to-day by the midday express to Napier. He goes by way of Taupo and Rotorua to Auckland.

The Athletic Sports Association is likely to bo registered next week. A man named John Pearson, charged today with the robbery of <£46 from A. C. Christiansen, a 'resident of Terrace End, was committed for trial at the Wellington Supremo Court. Another man named Alfred Coley, who was also accused, was acquitted. Palmerston North, March 12.
