One ton of ore from the Hit-or-Miss claim, Puriri, tested at the School pf Mines to-day, yielded 240 z of gold, worth J 62 9s 7d per oz. ... The Alburnia Company has obtained 218 oz gold for the month’s operations. The Moanataiari Creek district is claimingincreased attention, and shares in the 'New Whau are selling at T 25 per fiftieth of the whole. The Waihi Company’s yield will be fully equal to last month’s. Shares are at £6 5,5. Silvertons are firm at 13s lOd. The Reefton gold 'returns for the week are : —Globe, 2300 z amalgam from 85 tons (clean up) ; Keep-it-Dark, 2330 z amalgam from 235 tons (clean up) ; Big River, llOGoz amalgam from 100 tons (clean up) ; Hercules, 2510 z amalgam from 86 tons (clean up); Progress, 4280 z amalgam from 210 tons (clean up); Cock Sparrow dredge, 68oz amalgam for 139 hours’ work. Reefton, March 6. The total returns from the rnijies here for the past week amqunt<uto 29070 z amalgam from 1135 toils stone. Three dividends have been declared, a shilling for the Big River Company and sixpence each for the Progress and Hercules. The first represents TI2OO and each of the others T6OO, or a total of T 2400. There are very favourable reports of the Big River mine, also from Lyell Creek. Auckland, March 6. A scheme for working the deep levels at the Thames, submitted by Mr C. A. Harris, was considered at a special meeting of the Thames Drainage Board, when it was resolved that any action in the direction ©f developing the deep levels should be under an agreement with the companies interested, and that the Beard would cooperate in carrying out any arrangement which may be arrived at between Mr Harris and the companies.
