H.1.G.M.5., BUSSARD. The German warship Bussard, which left Lyttelton at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, arrived here yesterday morning. The vessel left Auckland on the 12th ult. for Akaroa, where she arrived on the 15th, and during her stay, there, which extended to the endot February, she had been engaged in large and small arm drill. She left Akaroa -f-oF 'Lyttelton on February 28, and has'been at the latter port since unarmoured cruiser of 1580. tons displacement, with twin screws, and ;an indicated horse*power of 2800. Her length is 84.42 metres, beam 12.56 metres, and she attains a speed of 16 knots. Her armament consists of eight 10£ centimetre breech-loading quickfiring guns, four machine guns and two torpedo launching carriages. She was launched in 1890, and has been in commission four years. Her complement of men is 163 all told. She is one of the vessels which compose the German Pacific squadron, the other two being the Fa.lke and Moive. It is to be hoped that the “public will have an r opportunity of heating them. The last time we had ,a^visit -ftptn German warships here was in 1890, when -the squadron was in port. The Nautilus, a: small vessel, was here in 1878. It is not expected that the "Bussard will remain here more than a few days. BARQUE H. G. JOHNSON. The barque H., G. Johnson, 1081 tons, Captain Colby, from New York, was towed in Wednesday afternoon by the Puco. The H. G. Johnson left New York 23th with a general cargo for-this port and Auckland. She experienced pleasant weather with favourable winds during the voyage. She ran the easting in 44deg. 45min. south, and came south of Tasmania. She was three days in Cook Strait, where she met with light variable winds and calms. The passage occupied 100 days. She brought one passenger, Mr R. Bradlee, of Boston. Messrs Levin and Co. are the local agents.

Capetown, March 2. The Ruahine has arrived here from London. She left to-day for Hobart and Wellington. ' The Aorangi passed here on Thursday last for Port Chalmers.
