RACING IN NEW ZEALAND.

CASTLE POINT RACES. Tenui, March 4. The Castle Point Races were held on Saturday last on the beach in splendid weather. There was a large attendance. Hurdle Race. —Flagstaff, 1 ; Frisco, 2. Farewell Handicap.— Salmon, 1; Guardfish, 2. PALMERSTON TROTTING CLUB’S MEETING. ' Fine weather prevailed for the Palmerston Trotting Club’s Meeting, and the attendance was good. The sum of >82194 was passed through the totalisator, as against <£1845 last year. The secretary, Mr C. C. Miles, and the various other officials discharged their duties well. Electric Handicap, one mile. — 'The Frog, Bsec, 1; Nellie, 15sec, 2; Jenny, 20sec, 3. Eight started. Dividend, <£2 19s. In the Post Stakes, one mile, Strathconnan won, with Silverwood second. Dividend. <£l 14s. A protest against Strath connan was dismissed. Autumn Handicap Trot, three miles.— Three Cheers, scr, 1: ' Jenny, 45sec, 2; Grenadier, 36sec, 3. Siberia, Captain Russell, Jersey, Prince Albert, Sir William, Pearl and Sonny also started. Won on the post. Dividend, £1 11s. Mr A. J. Keith, owner of Maud V., has written to the Club claiming second money in the Saddle Trot, in which event his mare finished third, Te Horo being second. The letter is to be considered at a meeting of the Trotting Club on Tuesday evening.
