The quarterly meeting of the Palmerston North Licensing Committee took place on Tuesday. An application for the transfer of the license for the Bimnythorpe United Hotel to A. Fredsburg, was refused. Mr Halliwell stated that the hotel had been leased to Mr Gascoigne, of Bunhythorpe, and an application would shortly be made for a transfer of the license to him. The transfer of the license of the Empire Hotel, Ashurst, from Ada James to John Sheehy, was granted, after some discussion as to whether the hotel was required, A transfer of the license for the Cafe de Paris Hotel from W. T. Hook to Susan Manson was granted. John Black applied for a transfer of the license for the Gorge Hotel from himself to W. McPhail, but as there was no appearance of Mi McPhail, the transfer was not agreed to.;
