FEATHERSTON.
Feathekston, February 25. A cottage of Mr W. Hodder's, and occupied by Mr Tiddswell, sen., was burnt down on Friday afternoon owing to a bush fire at the back of the premises in the Domain, the whole of which suddenly became ignited during the afternoon. The township was so full of smoke that one could hardly see across the streets. Mr Tiddswell was unable to save anything. His wife was in Wellington with the excursionists. Great sympathy is felt for them, and subscriptions are being collected on their behalf. The house was insured in the Victoria office for .£75. The adjourned special meeting of the Eoad Board, fixed for Saturday, to confirm' the special loans to the Martin borough--Pukeo, Kauhautara-Pukeo and Tullock's roads, again lapsed for the waTfffc/of--a quorum. In the Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr T. Hutchison, there were 24 cases set down for hearing, eight of which were for rates due to the Road Board.,
