GENERAL.
Cairo, February 23. At the instance of Lord Cromer, British representative in Egypt, the Khedive has published a decree creating a special tribunal to deal with the offences against the British soldiers and sailors. The Council has again been ordered to reconsider the measures which they have rejected. Lord Cromer is acting in the present crisis with energy and determination. Caiko, February 25. The Khedive, awed by Lord Cromer's energetic and determined attitude, has agreed to review the British troops in Cairo. Cairo, February 26; The Negus of Abyssinia raided the Vollamo country, where his army killed 7000 natives and captured 15,000 slaves: The Abyssinians lost 1000 men. Capetown, February 24. A body of hostile natives, under the guise of being friendly, penetrated the Portuguese lines at Lorenzo Marquez, on the north side of Delagoa Bay. The attack was made at night, and resulted in the loss of 50 men on th© Portuguese aide. The fatalities would have been very much heavier but for the gallantry of a lieutenant, who, though transfixed by an assegai, gave the alarm, and enabled the men to offer aome sort of defence.
Morocco, February 25. The rebels have entered the city, -where fighting of a most desperate and sanguinary character has taken place. The citizens fiercely defended the women and children, bxxt eventually had to give in with heavy loss. , The* rebels are now looting the city.
