The programme for the Druids' sports, to be held on the Basin Reserve' on Easter Monday, has been advertised, and trophies to the value of £lB are offered as prizes for the bicycle events. - The North Otago Cycling Club will hold their Championship Meeting on March 7th. At this meeting the Three-mile Championship of New Zealand (Cyclists'Union rules) and the Two-mile North Otago Wheel Race will be run. The programme for the Dunedin Cycling Club's sports on the 9th March includes nine bicycle events. The Wanganui Athletic Association's sports were held on February 14th. The weather was perfect, and there were some close finishes in the bicycle events, which resulted as follows : -One mile-W. H. Watt, 120yds, 1; F. De Lisle, 75yds, 2 ; Henderson, 15yds, 3. Time 3mm 17sec. Three miles—A. Fantham, scr., 1 ; W. R. Andrews, 30yds, 2 ; A. Gibbon, 200yds, 3. Time, lOmin lsec. A road race was held recently by the Feilding Cj cling Club for a silver medal presented by Mr Hadfield, of Palmerston North, on behalf of the Onslow Cycle Company, Auckland. The distance was four miles, and was covered by the winner, A. L. Parr, who had lmin 30sec start, in 14min 48sec. J. Mingins, the scratch man, came in second, his time being 14min 2 2-ssec. E. Feek, with 30sec start, came in third. At the general meeting of the New Zealand Cyclists' Alliance, held at Christchurch on the 14th February, the following records were passed :—W. P. The Rangitikei Advocate informs its readers that a Pahiatna bicyclist had a narrow escape from serious injury the other day. He ran into a vehicle driven by a lady, and one of the shafts of the conveyance entered into the arm-hole, on one side of his waistcoat and came out the other side, suspending the .wearer in a most unpleasant position, but without in any way injuring him. Good work is being put in on the training path bv the cyclists at Napier, in view of the Championship Meeting. It is expected that in the wheel events th*. competitors will have the benefit of pacemakers. Mr Jacobi left Napier at 10 p.m. on Friday night, with the object of breaking the record for the journey to Wellington by covering the distance in 24 hours. At 3 a.m. on Saturday, when just outside Takapau, he met with an accident, which gave him. a severe shaking. He was delayed for five hours by the accident, and did not leave Woodville for Masterton until 12.10 p.m. on Saturday. Mr Jacobi intended reir-aming l at Masterton on Saturday night. Huret, the French cyclist, has broken the record for 100 miles. His time was 4hrs 7min 47 3-ssec.
