The athletic entries show an increase of 57 over those of last year, totalling 141 against 84, and constituting a record as regards a Championship meeting. The cycling entries are also large* numberin e 72. Low, the Dunedin representative, passed through Wellington on Saturday on his way to Napier. The : annual sports of the Wanganui Amateur Athletic Association took place yesterday week. J. L. Lord won the Club Handicap, J. Bryers the Half-mile and Mile Races, A. Fantham the Three-mile Bicycle Race, and J. H. Watt the Mile Bicycle Race. Kingsley, amateur champion of New Zealand, put up a record in the Pole Jump, clearing 10ft 4in. George won the Ladies' Bracelet, and Lord the 120yds Hurdle Race. The entries for the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club's Meeting, which takes place on March 2nd, number 174, exclusive of the entries for the Five-mile Roadster Championship.
