POLO.
THE EANGITIKEI-MANAWATU MATCH. The return polo match between the Eangitikei and Manawatu teams was played at Bulls on • Saturday last. The Manawatu team having won the last match the return game caused the greatest excitement, and the ground had quite the appearance of a race meeting. The weather was perfect, and both teams were able to muster their full strength. Eangitikei led off by scoring two goals in the first spell, but the Manawatu men soon pulled themselves together and Snow obtained a fine goal in the second spell. This was shortly followed by Baker scoring a second time *or Manawatu off a rxin from the middle of the field. In the third spell Manawatu took the lead, Baker scoring again from a back hander. The friends of the Manawatu team had now good cause to be jubilant, as their men looked all over like winning, but just before time was called m the last spell, Wilson scored once more tor Bulls, and thus brought the numbers equal. Time was called shortly after this, and Manawatu were given the opportunity ot choosing between a draw or playing on. Manawatu decided to play on and a tew minutes later Baker narrowly escaped scoring, the ball passing close, to the Eano-itikei goal post, but Eangitikei now took the ball back to Manawatu quarters, where Wilson by a fine side stroke drove the ball over the coveted line, and thus won the match. From first to last the play was very even, and the game was one of the most pleasant and best contested matches this year. Curioxisly enough the second teams also managed to score equally up to the end ot the last spelly and had to play off, the Manawatu players eventually winning. The result of these matches is that the first teams of Eangitikei and Manawatu have each won one match by one goal, and are therefore exactly even, but the second team of the Manawatu have twice defeated the Eangitikei
