THE LATE MR CHANTREY HARRIS.

The funeral of the late Mr Chantrey Harris took place on Saturday morning, and was attended by a representative gathering.' The (Government was represented by tho Premier and the Minister for Education, and amongst others were Dr CahilLDr Findlay," Messrs J.K.Blair, E. Stafford, P. Parfitt, A. S. Allan and T. Bracken. Many former employees attended, including Messrs E. J. Le Grove, H. R. Dix, G. Stubbs and J. Arnutt. A number of the present staff and companionship of the New Zealand Times were amongst the mourners. Mr E. T. Gillen was unable to be present owing to indisposition, but the Evening Post was represented by Mr Louis Blundell. The pall-bearers were Mr D, M. Luckio, Mr R. A. Loughnan (editor New Zealand Times), Sir Robert Stout, Mr J. Alister Brown (manager New Zealand Times), Mr L. Blundell (Evening Post), and Mr S. Dyer. A handsome wreath was sent by the New Zealand Times and Mail staffs and companionships, which was inscribed as follows : —" In memory of a sincere friend and generous employer." Other wreaths were sent by Mrs Ethel Black, Mrs J..W. Bain, of Invercargili; and Mrs Dickson, of Milton, Captain and Mrs Smith, and another bearing the inscription, " With Jennie Wilkie's I deepest, heartfelt sympathy," The service | at the grave was conducted by the Rev Mr Ronaldson.. :■■•;■■•■ . •■'- .!
