THE CITY VALUATION.

AN INCREASE OF ,£9056. The compilation of the valuation of the ratable property in the city has been completed by the City Valuer (Mr James Ames). The total is .£349,841, an increase of .£9056 on last year's valuation, and .£27,085 on that of the year 1893-94. The Wellington College, which waa rated at .£ISOO, and the Girls'High School, rated at .£SOO, are now exempt under an Act passed in the session of 1894, and, therefore, are not included in this year's valuation. The exemption of these two institutions of course reduces the valuation of the city by .£2OOO. ' . Under the Wellington (City) Suburbs Sanitation Act of 1893 the Corporation have to make a valuation of the property lying along the Karori road, and known as Orangi Kaupapa, in the Borough of Karori, and Mitchelltown and Taitville, in the Melrose Borough. The valuation of the Karori property amounts to .£9ll, and tha Mitchelltown and Taitville property t 6 .£1033.
