Best Messina slow of sale at 20s per ease of '25 dozen. Pines. —Consignments from Sydney and elsowhoro havo boen in excess of requirements, and values ruling are very low. Best, 5s to Gs ; ordinary, 2s Gd to 3s 6d per case. Mandarins. —None. Passion Fruit. —Stocks heavy. . Prime, 4s to 5s ; modium, 3s per case. Peanuts. —Slow of sale at 2&d per lb. Walnuts. —6d per lb. Timabtj, February 19. At tho third wool sale to-day 581 bales were catalogued. Tho sale was a fairly good one, merinos being id to id better. Half and three-quarter bred went to 7d, crossbred to Gd, pieces to 4d, and locks to 2d.

The report presented at the 28th annual meeting of the Wellington Philosophical Society on Wednesday night states that 12 general meetings were held during the past year, and, with exhibits and papers road, 44 subjects were brought forward during the session. The discussions that followed the reading of the papers were of unusual length and interest. All the papers and a copy of the minutes have been forwarded to the manager of the New Zealand Institute for incorporation in the forthcoming volume. There was a larger average attendance at the meetings than for some years past, and the interest in tho work of the Society is certainly on the increase, as shown by the prominent part taken by many of the younger" members in tho discussions after the reading of the papers. During the year 17 now members wore addod to the roll, making a tofcal now on the list of 160. Major-General Schaw was again elected to represent the Society on tho New Zealand Institute. Tho balance-sheet shows that the receipts for tho year, including the balance carried forward, amount to .£169 lis 3d, and the expenditure to £ll4, 19s 9d, leaving a balance in hand of -£54 lis 6d. There is also a sum of JJ24 is Gd left in the bank at interest, which increases the credit balance to« 878 13s.
