BOWLING.
WELLINGTON v. THORNDON.
The annual four-rink match between the above clubs was played on Saturday afternoon on the largo green of the Wellington Bowling Club. Wellington proved successful in every one of the four rinks, and won the match by 29 points. The green was exceedingly keen and the baffling wind which was blowing interfered with the play. The game was 21 heads up. Particulars are appended:— No. 3 Rink. Wellington: Cordoza, Grady, Churchward, Ballinger (skip), 22. Thorndon: D. Nathan, Mowbray, Barry, Ross (skip), 15. No. 4 Rink. —Wellington : Haybittle, J. Young. Lawson, Sample (skip), 24. Thorndon: Wright, Rose, Falconer, McGlashan (skip), 15. No. 5 Rink. Wellington: Waddell, Harris, A. Scoullar, T. Scoullar (skip), 23. Thorndon ; Archibald, Buckle, S. Lambert, Flanagan (skip), 16. No. 6 Rink. —Wellington: Geddis, Richardson, Maudsley, McKee (skip), 24. Thorndon: Jameson, Mclntyre, Salmon, Lindsay (skip), 18. Totals: Wellington, 93; Thordon, 64.
WELLINGTON BOWLING CLUB.
The following ordinary matches Were played on Saturday afternoon : No. 1 Rinic. —Lamberg, R. Mowatt, J. Mowatt, Watt (skip), 18, v. Clothier, Hamilton, E. W. Petlierick, Butts (skip), 17.
No. 2 Rink. —Miller, A. Lockie, Boyes, Whitehouse (skip), 34, v. Willeston, MacDougall, Plimmer, Russell (skip), 15. No. 9 Rink. —J. Petlierick, Brunskill, Brown, Mentiplay (skip), 16, v. H. J. White, Knox, Oughton, Shirley (skip), 12. No. 10 Rinic. —Haselden, Collins, Barron (skip), 23, v. Archibald, Hickson, Morrison (skip), 19. Reich won by 21 to 19 his second game against Matheson in the final round for the Junior Bowls, and consequently carries off the prize. This is the first of the prize matches of the season which has been completed.
The contest for the Junior Bowls of the Wellington Bowling Club is now over. In the final round Reich won his second game against Matheson by 21 to 19 and therefore carries off the prize. Steps are being taken to form a Bowling Club at Masterton.
The Palmerston bowlers who are coming down to Wellington to play a return match with the Thorndon Bowling Club are also likely to receive an invitation tc» try conclusions with the Wellington Bowling Club. At the Newtown Bowling Green, in a match for the Edwin Challenge Badges, between Prince, Morris, Telford and Tustin (who skipped the team in the absence of Brackenridge), and a rink composed of Alpe, Underwood, Farr and Danks (skip), Danks’ rink was defeated by 19 to 16. The holders of the badges will next Saturday meet a team from the Thorndon Club, consisting of Archibald, Leslie, Mowbray and Flanagan (skip).
