The City Council to-night decided to invite competitive schemes for drainage, giving .£3OO for the best, <£2oo for the second, and £IOO for the third.
The salary of the Mayor has been fixed at £4OO.
Auckland, December 19.
The Education-Board has, on the motion of the Rev J. Bates, decide! to call the attention of the department to the large number of over-age pupils in the schools in this district.
