AFFAIRS IN MOROCCO.
Madrid, June 12. A rising is feared in Morocco. It is suspected the Sultan of Morocco was poisoned, though it is officially given out that the cause of death was dysentery. Foreign warships are collecting on the coast, and there is great excitement in
Spain. Molilla and other Spanish settlements are being reinforced. THE NEW BULTAN. Abdul Aziz, a lad of 14, has been proclaimed Sultan. It is expected that (hero will bo a rising in favour of Mouley Ismail, brother of tho lato Monarch. Tho Sultan of Morocco, who was known to his subjects under tho title of " Emir al Mumonin," or Princo of True Believers, claimed to be tho thirty-fifth lineal descendant of Ali, undo and son-in-law of Mohammed, tho Prophet. Tho form of government of tho Empire of Morocco is in reality an absolute despotism. Tho Sultan is chief of the State, as well as head of tho religion. As spiritual ruler, the Sultan stands quite alono, his authority not being limited, as in Turkey and other countries. Each Sultan is supposed, prior to death, to indicate tho member of tho Shoreofian family « r ho, according to his consci»ntiou3 belief, will best replace him. This succession is, however, elective, and ali members of the Shoreefiau family are eligible.
