Washington, May 12. The Capital Bank of Indianopolis has suspended payment, and also the Columbia Bank of Chicago. These failures have evoked a nervous feeling in financial circles in the United States. New York, May 13. A plot to blow up the Chicago waterworks and burn down the Exhibition Buildings has been discovered. The conspiracy is known to be the work of Anarchists. Registration under the Chinese Exclusion Act has proved a failure. Only 3000 Chinese throughout the United Statea, have registered their names, as provided by the law. News has been received that the rebels in Nicaragua have seized the canal. A United States cruiser has been ordered to proceed thither to enquire into the matter. New York, May 15. The directors of the Chicago Exhibition have decided on opening on Sunday, the 21st. One section of the Commissioners declare that President Cleveland's consent is necessary, and announce that unless it be obtained troops will close the gates. Gaudaur will row Hosmer in June and Stanbury in August. News has been received that the whole of Nicaragua is in rebellion ; Dr Robert Sacasa, the President, only holding the capital. The Government troops have thrice been defeated by the rebels and lost heavily. New, York, Mav 16. The Supreme Court has decided (one judge dissenting) that the Chinese Exclusion Act is legal in the enforcement of the deportation of unregistered Chinamen.
