If you persevere, however, we should think that ordinary bird seed would do. The following will make a good paste for feeding a singing bird .-—Blanched sweet almonds, lib; peameal, 21b ; butter, 3oz ; aaffron, a few grains; honey, a sufficient quantity. Form it into a paste and add the yolks of two eggs. James Johnson (Marton).—A. F. Burton’s Gmin 53sec at the March meeting of the Auckland Club is the New Zealand record for 1 mile walk, and we presume it was overlooked in compiling the records for the catalogue of the Champion Sports.
