PASTOR BIRCH.

AN ALLEGED MIRACLE. (per press association.) Auckland, April 13. At a meeting at the Lome Street Hall tonight, a resolution was passed asking Pastor Birch to stay in Auckland to conduct services here. Mr Birch does not seem inclined to stay to preach, as he says, in opposition to the Tabernacle. He held services yesterday at the Choral Hall. In the evening he attempted to address the audience, but appeared to be suffering from severe hoarseness, and could only be heard to say that he had lost bis voice. A hymn was sung to give Mr Birch an opportunity to recover, and one of those in the bodv of the hall stood up and prayed that Mr’Birch’s voice might be restored. Mr Birch then came forward and, saying that he was much better, proceeded with his address, claiming that he had been miraculously cured.
