Bowling.
There was a comparatively small number of bowlers at the Wellington Bowling Club’s green on Saturday last, owing to counter attractions, and also to the faot that four rinks are away at the New .Plymouth Tournament. The weather was simply perfection, and the games were muoh enjoyed. Following are the scores : —No. 1 Rink— Messrs Jones, Edwin, Gray, W. J. Riley, (skip), 21 ; Messrs Shortt, Hart, Wilson, Leatham (skip), 18. No. 2 Rink—Messrs Wil eston, RichardsoD, Mitchell, K. Wilson (skip), 21 ; Messrs Brown, Riley, Hoicroft, Lambert (skip), 11. No. 3 Rink— Messrs Myers, McGregor, Ewart (skip), 21 : Messrs Cooper, Lawson, Young (skip), 16. The green will be open for play the whole of to-day, aud it is desired that as many games as possible in the Prize Competitions should be played off. .
At a c-mmittee meeting of the Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, held on Tuesday, it was decided to present the prizes won at the last sports meeting at a conversazione to be held towards the end of April. Accounts in connection with the spoits were passed for payment. The Wanganui Collegiate School sports which were held ou Easter Monday were a great success. The Wanganui people as sembled in Btrong force, the fair sex being Btrcngly represented. The Old Boys’ Challenge Cup was won by Saxby, with 13 points, King 10 points being second, and Sid Holdsworth ran into third place with 3£ points. Two races of 100yds for old boys were won by W 7 H. Woon and R. Dal* ziell. In the evening the annual dinner of the Old Boys’ Association was held at the Wanganui Institute. The President, Mr W. E. Empson, occupying the chair. The old boys were represented to the number of 70, several of whom came from other parts of this Island. The principle toast proposed during the evening was “ The School,’ which was responded to by the Chairman. Daring the evening several vocal selections were rendered. The singing of “ Auld Laug Syne ” terminated a most enthusiastic gathering. . The old boys of the Wellington branch, who numbered 25, returned to town on Tuesday night from Wanganui by the late train, after spending a most enjoyable Easter in the neighbourhood of the old school.
