THE WINTON BABY FARM.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Invercargill, March 26. At the inquest at Winton yesterday re the death of the infant in the house of Mrs Deane evidence was taken to the effeot that the infant was six weeks old, was brought from Caversham on the 9th ; tnen had a oola, and gradually got worse. Medicine was administered, but the child died. In the bouse Mrs Deane had eleven children of from six weeks to two and a half years old, and two of 11 and 15 years respectively, with herself and husband. They occupied a house 12 by 14 with a lean to. The meoical evidence Bbowed that death was naturally caused by inflammation of the valve of the heart and congestion of the lungs. A verdict was returned accordingly, with a rider that the premises were entirely inadequate for the purpose for which they were used, the Coroner being asked to lay the suggestions before the proper authority.
