THE LYNCHING AT NEW ORLEANS.
(PER press association.) New York, March 18. All those lynched at New Orleans were American citizens. Washington, March 20. Five hundred Italian navvies are drilling and arming in Virginia. Rome, March 20. It is reported at Spezzia, the principal Italian naval port, that secret'orders have been sent to the Italian Mediterranean Squadron, in connection with the recent;' lynching at New Orleans.
Washington, March 22. Excited meetings of Italians have been held in New York, Philadelphia, and Newmarket to demand vengeance for the lynching of the Sicilians. % Fourteen thousand are organising m Canada and the States. O’Malley, a detective employed by the Italians during the recent trial,' threatens to expose the working of the Mafia Society. He admits that six of those lynched were implicated in the murder of Chief Detective Henncssy. (special to press association Washington, March 20., • Ibis stated the leading Ita'iaus.in New Orleans endorse the lynching of the Sicilians. The Italian Consul advises patience, and to wait for the Italian Government to act. New Orleans, March 22. At a meeting of five thousand Italian residents it was resolved to await reparation at the hands of the Government for the recent lynching outrage.
