The America#! visible supply of wheat is estimated at 41,000,609' bushels. Bank of England returns, published to-day, show the * total reserve in notes and bullion to be L 16,118,000. The pro*-, portion of reserve to liabilities is 38.16. Consols, 96-J. Three irkm-tbs bills’ are at 2£ per cent, weaker. New Zealand 4 pet Gent, inscribed stock, 107 ; 3J do, 97 New Zealand long-berried wheat, 425, active. For New Zealand wheat on passage sellers are asking 395, but buyers will not give more than 38s 6d. Canterbury mutton, 4|d ; Wellington do, 4§d j Canterbury lamb, 6gd ; beef, forequarters, 3 9-16 d : hind quarters, Hemp—Wellington fair quality, L 22 15s ; good, L 24 15s. South Australian wheat, 435, market restricted ; Victorian do, 425, quiet. Sugar—Best German beet, 13s 9d firm. No. 1 best Scotch jug iron f.o.b. in Clyde, 44s ; mai-ket flat. For New Zealand wheat off coast sellers are asking 425, bub buyers will not give more than 41s 6d. London, March 20. Arrived —Alcione, Star of England, and Morayshire, from New Zealand. London, March 22: Tallow, medium beef, 25s 6cl. Since the close of the wool sales the market has been quiet. Arrivals up to date total 200,000 bales, of which 54,000 bales have been sent forward. The wheat market is quieter, but prices are being maintained. Australian supplies are short. Hides, salted, heavy ox, 3gd; ditto, cows’, 3|d. Sydney, March 19. Sailed —Hauroto, for Auckland. The following are the latest quotations for silver shares ; —Broken Hill Proprietary, LlO 53 ; British, L2 13s ; Central, L 4 5s 6d ; South, L 4 7s ; Block 14, L 6 10s ; Block 10, Ll 3 7s ; Junction, LI 16s. Sydney, March 23. Arrived —Mararoa, s.s., from Auckland. Sydney, March 24. Sailed—Monowai, for San Francisco, via Auckland. Arrived—Jubilee, from Wellington; Industry, from Bluff. Sailed—Rotokino, for Wellington. Melbourne, March 20. At the wool sales to-day the business was fairly active. Good lines maintained their position, but faulty were rather irregular. Greasy merinos fetched up to 9d, and scoured to Is 4id. . Hobart, March 22. The R.M.S. Rimutaka, from London, via the Cape; arrived hero yesterday forenoon, and sailed agaiu for New Zealand at 6 p.m. She brings 27 passengers for Australian, and 77 for New Zealand ports. . Albany, March 23. Arrived —Orotawa, from Plymouth. Passengers for New Zealand —Mr and Mrs Langworth, Messrs Doran, Johnston, Page, Smallbones, Nanderbyl, and May. Rio de Janeiro, March 20. The s.s. Duke of Sutherland called here to-day on her way to London. Her cargo of frozen meat is in good condition. Christchurch, March 19. A third consignment of apples, consisting of 1625 cases shipped by the New Zealand Fruit Export Company by the R.M.S. Aorangi, left here yesterday for London. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cable message from their London office, dated 19th instant : Frozen Meat.—Mutton —Market easier, and the price has declined per lb since last report. Beef—Market quiet; quo. tations unchanged s nee last telegram. Lambs— Market dull ; prime New Zealand lambs are worth, per carcase, 6id per lb. New Zealand Hemp. IVXarket irregular ; medium is worth L 23 per ton. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following telegram from their London office, dated 20th inst. : Tallow. —Market tirm. Fine mutton is worth 28s, and good beef 26s 6d per cwt. Quotations nominal.
