A PROJECTED NATIVE KORERO.
(per press association.) Rotorua, March 18. Natives from all paits of the provinoe are expected to meet at Rotorua next week to hold a big koiero on various subjects. There will be discussed a petition, prepared for presentation to the Queen, praying for rectitioation of what the Natives deem to be an objectionable state of things in their connection with the Protestant faith, but they niaiutain secrecy as to the exact nature of their grievance. The petition is said to be handsomely got up. The heading represents the Queen receiving a petition, presented by six Natives, together with the Treaty of Waitangi. The desirableness of the repeal of tho Thermal Springs Act will be discussed at the same korero, tho Natives being anxious to sell certain sections of their land in order to allow Europeans to take up small sections for settlement. The meeting is expected to last a week. The Native Minister was waited upon last night by a number of Rotorua Natives, who want an increased piice put upon their lands subject to lease under the Thermal Spiings Act. The Hon A. J. Cadman promised to consider the matter ou his return to Wellington, and that in the meantime action would be de« ferred.
