HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
ANNUAL MEETING. (from our travelling correspondent.) Otaki, November 26. The annual meeting of the above Council was held here to-day. Present—Councillors Venn, Davies, Simcox, Tompsifet, Atkins, Best, Bills, and Kebbell. On the motion of Councillor Davis, seconded by Councillor Simcox, Councillor Kebbell was elected Chairman for the ensuing year. Messrs Ryder Bros, application for permission to ereot a verandah to their shop was granted. It w«b resolved that the Councillors of the Otaki riding be appointed a committee to arrange with Tewiata te Horu re claim for compensation for fencing on the Hill road, and to report at jpext meeting of Council, and to enquire into all other claims for fencing on that road. Councillor Kebbell was appointed trustee for the county to the District Hospital, and also representative on the Wellington District Hospital Board. The tender of D. O’Lean for B. road oontraot, amounting to £231, was accepted. Councillors Simcox and Bills together with the Chairman and Treasurer were appointed to sign cheques, and Councillor Davis, Tompsitt, Best, and Bills, were appointed a Finance Committee, The Counoillors for Otaki Biding _ were appointed a Standing Committee to deal with charitable aid and other matters, formerly, in the hands of the old
committee. 1 Councillor Davie was appointed to settle accounts with the Foxton Borough Council. A slaughtering license was granted Messrs Taylor Bros. It was resolved to invite tenders for completing the «. n< i l ?^L* loDg the County road between the Otaki Elver and Te Horo Railway Station, tenders to close at 10 a.m„ December 13th. It was farther resolved that steps be taken to complete the anrvey of the County road through the Te Horo Riding.
