DECK CARGOES.
(per press association.) Lyttelton, o ane 27. Attention having been drawn to steamers leaving with excessive deok cargoes the Government Inspector of Machinery boarded the Coptic and the Star of England. On the former vessel he had several bags of coal shifted to form passages and keep the pumps clear ; on the latter he had a large quantity of coal on the a'ter-deck put below the hatches, only avowing some to be stowed forward.
