PRESENTATION TO MR J. C. HARRIS

The good feeling which his existed between Mr J. C. fiurris and his employes, until recent’y proprietor of the New Zealand limes and r* ew Zealand Mail, was demonstrated on Sa urday after noon, at a meeting at which employer and emuloyed rar.t to say goodbye and wish each otner success in fcheir future careers. The gathering took place, in ohedu-nce to the etiquette of the trade, around the stone ” iu the news room, where all the employes had assembled. Fo'- their part the emnl.tyd-* expressed reciprocal feelings by presenting Mr Hauis with », handsome silv-.r inkstand (snit-bly inscribed) a silver mounted fruit banket, and a copy of that inoruiue’s Timas, the last issue hearing Mr Haiti■<’ im >Hn*, printed on white* satin. The pre.-ent.auou was made by Mr i'ap-rei! (clref reportei), who, iu performing tliAu duty, communicated to the recipient the esteem and respect in which his employes held him, and their very best wishes for his success in any walk of life he might pursue in the future. An address, handsomely illuminated, was also handed to Mr Harris by Mr Ashbolt (overseer), and the meeting, which had been a most cordial one in all respects, was brought to a conclusion by Mr Harris formally bidding good-bye to the staff generally.
