EARLY CLOSING.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, January 22. The Auckland Knights of Labour have decided to allow ladies to become members of that society, and already some have joined the early closing committee. The Knights of Labour met to-night, when those members appointed to canvass the city in the interest of the movement reported satisfactorily, but recommended that as a majority of tradesmen preferred closing at 7 p.m. instead of 6 on week evenings, that that hour be fixed upon. It was accordingly resolved that the programme should be — Closing at 7 on five days of the week, except on evenings before holidays, and at 10 p.m, - Saturdays.
