UNPROFITABLE TRAMWAYS.
(per press association.) ■ -Dunedin, January 13. The report of the City and Suburban Tram* ways Company states that operations during the year have been unsatisfactory, a loss having been sustained of £919, partly due to the falling off of receipts under the old fares, and partly to opposition. The traffic has been very large since the adoption of the penny section system, but the expenses have also mounted up. The existence of the Company, according to the report, demands the adoption of a system of electrical traction.
