WELLINGTON DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Wellington District Road Board was held Wednesday. Present—Messrs F. S. Darby (chairman), Speedy, Death, Barton, and Russell. A letter was received from the Railway Engineer’s Department stating that 1000 yards of gravel will be delivered at Cruickshank’s siding for the Board’s use. The letter was acknowledged, and Mr Barton (Warden, No. 6 Ward) was authorised to interview Mr Carruthers on the subject. Mr George Sonthee wrote to the Board complaining that Mr Wyeth and Mr Sinnox left their carts on the road line. The clerk was instructed to state that the matter will be attended to. Mr Speedy reported as to Mr Whitton’s complaint about a nuisance on Gear’s Island, that there is room for complaint, and the Clerk was instructed to write to the Secretary to the Gear Company, requesting them to abate the nuisance at once. .Permission was granted to the Warden, No. 2 Ward, to call for tenders for metalling Pauatahanui to Moonshine-road. William Johnson’s tender was accepted for chains of metalling, Lower Wainui Valley-road, at 4s lOd per chain, and for metalling 31 chains of Swamp-road, at 8s 5d per chaim Mr Mcltasson’s tenders were accepted for repairs, for two years, of Wallaceville to Mungaroa-road, at L 35 per annum ; for Upper Mungaroa-road, at L 33 15s per annum ; for Akaharawa-road, at Ll2 per annum. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to LlO6 9s 6d.
