AN IMPORTANT JUDGMENT.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, January 13. Mr Justice Williams delivered judgment iu the case of Southland Hospital Trust v. Southland Charitable Aid Board. The judgment decides that in their construction of the Act the word “maintenance” does not include new buildings or alterations or additions to the existing buildings. It also decides that, although the defendants had not appealed against the requisition, they were not precluded from objecting to pay £IOOO claim, the money not being required for maintenance. Judgment was entered for defendants, with costs.
