THE INFANT KING OF SPAIN.

The infant King of Spain is now suffering from a partial failure of the heart’s action, and is reported to be in a critical condition. The Princess Maria Mercedes, eidsst sister of King Alfonso, who was Queen of Spain in the interim between the death of the late King Alfonso XII. and the birth of the present King, will succeed to the throne in the event of the death of the infant King. The Princess Mercedes was born September 11th, 1880. The ex Queen Regent Maria Christina, mother of the present King, has been so overtaxed with nursing duties that she has several times fainted from exhaustion.
