STUD COMPANY’S SALE.

(per press association.) Auckland, January 3. The New Zealand Stud Company held their annual sales of stock at Sylvia Park to-day. There was a very large attendance of buyers. The sales were conducted by Mr Philson, who acted on behalf of Hunter and Nolan and Buckland and Sons. The yearling blood stock was submitted in the afternoon. There were 43 yearlings, and the total amount realised from their sale was 6158 guineas. Amongst the principal buyers were Messrs W. R. and S. Wilson (of Adelaide), G. G. Stead (Canterbury), H. Gollan and J. D. Ormond (Napier), and D. O’Brien, There was splendid competition for the Nordenfeldt stock. The highest price realised was paid for the colt by Nordenfelt —Nelly Moore, which, after keen competition, was bought by Mr Wilson for 1025 guineas amidst loud applause. The colt is a very handsome one and of shapely proportions. There was a bold contest for the Nordenfeldt—Mersey filly between Messrs Wilson and O’Brien, andtheformerevontually became the purchaser. Mr Gollan bought the half-sister to Tirailleur, after good competition between himsslf and Mr Stead, who, however, afterward outbid Mr Gollan for the possession of the Nordenfeldt—Pearlaah filly. The Company, having determined to dispose of the whole lot of the Clydesdale stock, all of these horses of this class owned by them were sold. Thirty-two lot 3 were offered and quited at god prices, the buyers being Messiß Stead, Duncan, Pan’, (VVanganui) aud Winchester. Amongst some extra thoroughbred lots sold were the stallions Leolinus and C»ptivator. The former was bought for 40 guineas by Mr J. D, YVilliamson, of Waikato, and Captivator for 16 guineas by Mr Moore, of Ohinemuri.
