On the 24bh of August, whilst at anchor at Hobart, the mother expired from syncope. The body was sent on shore in charge of deceased’s husband, whose destination was Brisbane. She took 48 passengers from all ports, and the following cargo from Wellington (other ports not ineluded) :—1 case cheese, 64 sacks potatoes, 1 case butter, 6 cases game, 20 sacks oats, 2 octaves wine, 3 bags rabbits, 4172 carcases mutton, 1421 qrs beef, 23 casks tallow, 5 bales wool, 446 bales flax, 150 legs mutton, S cases merchandise, 32 bales leather, 46 kegs butter, 26 bales skins, 219 eases preserved meats, and 76 sacks grass seed. On the 14th August the New Zealand Shipping Company's R.M.S. Aorangi, Commander , Sutcliffe, arrived in harbour from London, via Plymouth, Teneriffe, Capetown, and Hobart. Variable weather was experienced on the passage, and the time from Plymouth , occupied 45 days, her actual steaming time from the same port being 43d 3h. j The Aorangi brought 115 passengers for < New Zealand, of which number 49 were for j Wellington. The Shaw, Savill, and j Albion Co’s ship Pleione, Captain Ferguson, g arrived in port on the 17th August from \ Port Chalmers. She is loading for London, j and is expected to sail within the next two g weeks. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion j Co’s R.M.S Arawa, Commander Stuart, g sailed for London, via Rio de Janeiro, Tene- t riffe and Plymouth, on the 22nd ult. ' She took 59 passengers and the following cargo : j —2148 qrs beef, 8007 carcases mutton, 918 j kegs butter, 113 bales wool, 158 bales flax, j 24 cases merchandise, 34 bales leather, 22 bales skins, 1012 bags antimony ore, 474 legs mutton, and 1 cheese. She has nearly completed discharging her inward cargo, and in all probability will load here for London. The barque Brier Holme, Captain Johnstone, j arrived in harbour on the 26th August, after . a passage of 102 days from Liverpool. Sho j has nearly completed discharging the t Wellington portion of her cargo, and as soon f as completed, will sail for Port Chalmers, ( for which port she has part cargo. The , Ship Blair Drummond, Captain Hall, arrived ( in harbour on the 28th ult., from Auckland. £ She is on the berth for London, and will x have quick despatch. The New Zealand j Shipping Company’s ship Ralston, Captain - Adams, arrived from Port Chalmers on the , 30th ult. She is loading for London, and is expected to get away within the next two £ weeks.
