A Bust of Gladstone. —Mr O. Grazzini, of Newtown, is about to present to the House of Representatives a bust of Mr W. E. Gladstone, taken from a moulding of a bust produced from life by Mr C. Macbride, a well-known sculptor of Edinburgh. Careful experiments have shown that waste silk is the most effective of all nonconducting coverings for steam pipes, and the demand for this purpose promises to be great, notwithstanding the high price. President Corbin, of the Leading Railroad and Rapid Transit Steamship Company, has purchased 3200 acres of land and all available water front at Montbaak Point, Long Island, New York, as a landing point in the United States for his new steamship line. Herr Krupp employs 21,000 men. He started in 1833 with nine men. • ,
