HAVELOCK NEWS.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Havelock, March 6,

When at the wharf this morning I was kindly shown by Mr Thrush, who had just arrived from the Mohau Sound, Ingaroa Bay, where he has been prospecting, some nice samples of mineral ore. One sample very much resembles that found at Jackson’s Head, which is known to contain antimony; this was taken from a reef 110 ft wide. Another sample of white quartz has every indication of being impregnated with silver ; and a third specimen, which has been subjected to fire for 48 hours, is a white and slated coloured quartz, plainly showing a mineral very much resembling silver. The whole of these samples are being sent to Melbourne in bulk, where they will be fairly tested, and it is to be hoped with good results.
