[By Telegraph.] (from our own correspondent. ) Wanganui, January 2. On Christmas Eve Mr Cowie, manager of the Wanganui Meat Company, was the recipient of a very handsome album with photographs from the employes of the Company. Mr Cowie used to be manager of the Wellington Meat Company. There is apparently some danger of the headquarters of the tournament to be held here at Easter time falling through. If it does the Alexandra Cavalry will more than likely attend the Nelson encampment. The Defence Minister has informed Captain Sommerville that 50,000 rounds of ammunition will be given by the Government for the New Zealand Rifle Association meeting. The date of the meeting is almost certain to be March 25. Captain Sommerville has, at the request of the Government, sent in a report on the Victorian Centennial meeting and the doingß of the New Zealand representatives. The Herald met with an accident this evening, two formes of inside pages falling to the floor, which necessitated the resetting of the whole paper. Bishop Hadfield is expected here on Sunday with Archdeacon Fancourt to ordain the Rev P. L. Cameron to priest’s orders. It is rumoured that the Bishop contemplates his resignation on au early date, on the ground of advanced age.
