DEATH OF A POSTMASTER
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Blenheim, December 23. A very Budden death ocourred last night. Mr Alexander Livingstone, Chief Postmaster, had left hia office shortly after 5 o’clock, and had been out for a walk to a friend’s house. On returning he got f»s far. as the gate of his private - residence, when he dropped down. - Assistance was procured, and he was - taken inside, bnt he died in twenty minutes. He was Chief Postmaster here for the past two and a half years. At one time he held a commission in the French army, and had Been active service in Algeria. He was a; native of Paris, hie father holding a high office in the French army. Deceased was one of the best musicians in the. Colony, and was a prominent member of the VVairau Lodge of Freemasons. He had been in ill-health for a considerable time past, being treated for a complication of diseases. No inquest is deemed necessary. The funeral takes place at 7 o’clock to-morrow morning with Masonic honours.
