1 (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, October 25. Mr H. Law, late Bank of New Zealand, manager at Adelaide, left for the South by the Tarawera at noon. Before leaving he left decisive instructions-with his solicitors, Messrs Heskethand Richmond, to prosecute the Bauk Committee for the lauguage made use of iu their report, and to prosecute the New Zealand Herald for the lauguage used by them in their article on 23rd instant. The work has been completed in four mouths, one month under the contract time, to the entire satisfaction of the Government Inspector of Works. Henry Casey and Joseph Fairweather pleaded guilty at the Police Court to-day to tiring at a kerosene tin on Surrey Hills estate. Each was fined £1 and costs. A ten-roomed house iu Nelson-street, owned by Mr P. Gleeson, and occupied by Mr Macdonald, au engineer, was destroyed by fire this morning. The insurance on the house destroyed by the Nelson-street fire is £350, in the Victoria Company. The Insurance on the furniture was £IOO iu the New Zealand office. It was insured for £175 in the South British office. Ernest Driver, who injured himse f on the 14th inst., by diving into f- nr feet of water at the Saltwater Baths, died on Saturday from concussion of the brain. Bicbard Howarth, of Onehunga, was seriously injured on Saturday afternoon by falling from the front platform of a tramcar in Syu ouds-streef. He was rendered unconscious, and biood wat found to be oozing / from his ears. He was removed to the Hospital, and is progressing favourably. The dead body of a child was found on the beach, near Judge’s Bay, I’ainell, on Saturday afternoon. The body wi.B clothed in two calico gowns, wrapped in a woman’s petticoat, and tied in an old sugar bag.
