If, as we hope and believe, the necessary funds for the purchase of th© Post office clock will readily bo forthcoming, we trust that every effort will be made to have the clock constructed locally. We- have more than once previously > urged that this should be done. The former clock, furnished by Messrs Littlejohn, gave entire satisfaction, and nothing better could be desired, while the price was reasonable. An opportunity ought certainly be given to local manufacturers to tender for the work, and unless their tenders materially exceed the cost of importation, preference should be accorded to the colonial tenderers. This point should not be lost sight of.
