WELLINGTON FOOTBALL CLUB’S SPORTS.
Despite the wretched weather on Saturday there was a good attendance at the Wellington Football Club's annual sports, held on the Baßin Reserve, fully 600 people being present, amongst whom were a number of ladies, who occupied seats in the pavillion. Had the weather been fine there would doubtless have been a large attendance, and it is to be regretted that the Club were so unfortunate in this respeot. The sports were of a very interesting character, the competitors being numerous, and with one or two exceptions the finishes were very close. The general arrangements were excellent, and the various events were got off very punctually. Mr P. P. Webb acted as director of sports ; Dr Cahill. Messrs C. A. Knapp, T. S. Ronaldson were the judges ; and Messrs E. C. Batkin and A. Young officiated as starter and timekeeper respectively. It « needless to 3tate that all performed their duties in a most satisfactory manner. A word of praise is due to Messrs G. M. Lightfoot and E. L.
