The China Navigation Company s ss Taiyuan left Foochow for Auokland on the 9th inst, and is due there about tho 31st inst. She has 2475 tons of cargo for New Zealand, of which 300 tons is for Auckland, 700 tons for Wellington, 350 tons for Lyttelton, 1100 tons for Dunedin, and 25 tons for Greymouth.

DETAINED STEAMERS. The steamers Manapouri (which was to have sailed last Friday for Auckland, via East Coast) and the Waihora (for Sydney) were detained on account of rough weather.

ARRIVAL OF R.M.S. TONGARIRO, FROM LONDON.

The N.Z.S. Co’s R.M.S. Tongariro arrived in harbour at 11.20 pm on Saturday f om London, via Plymouth, Tenenffe, Cape town, and Hobart. She left with 141 passengers of all classes (37 of whom landed at Hobart), 213 sacks of mails and 2000 tons of cargo, 600 being for Wellington 500 for Lyttelton, 350 for Auokland, and 550 for Dunedin. The passage out has been a remarkably pleasant one. Amusements m the shape of athletic sports, concerts, ' dances, &c., had been got up, and passed off satisfactorily, and the passengers speak highly of the attention and kindnes3 shown them by Captain Bone and his officers. Of the paasagG, we learn that tho Tongariro left Plymouth, after embarking mails and passengers, at 2.6 pm on the 25th August; experienced light airs and thick weather across the Bay and to Teneriffe, arriving at 4.3 am .on 30th August ; after coaling left again at noon same day, experienced one day’s N.E. Trades, then S.W. monsoon, and rainy weather to the Equator, from thence fresh S.E. trades to Capetown, arriving at 11.26 am on 14th September. After coaling and provisioning ship left the Capo at 6.47 pm same day. Toward Hobart fell in with light easterly winds for three days, running the easting down In 48'00 S., with continuous S.W. winds and snow, arriving Hobart at 5.25 pm on the 2nd Ootober. After landing her passengers left again at 10.7 pm for Wellington, meeting a strong N. W. gale and heaving sea ; paßsed Cape Farewell at 12.5 pm on Saturday, and arrived here at 11.5 pm the same day.
