A homely French abbe, who has just inherited £64,000, has presented his fortune to the Pope, stating that hitherto he had lived on £l2 a month, and thus he would not know what to do with so much. In return, however, he asks his Holiness to support him if he wants assistance at any future time—which the Pope will, of course.
