The Westport Uoal Company intend to pat on two shifts, both in the mine and on the incline, and for that purpose are bringing, up 90 men and a number of tubs from their Greymouth mine ; 200 new tubs are also about due from England. A more important item, however, is that negotiations are proceeding for the sale of the whole of the Company's property to a powerful syndicate of capitalists, and apparently as a consequence the Company’s shares are in great demand, and purchasable only at a considerable advance on theirformer prices. The Inangahua Times now issues a daily penny edition. With respecc to the Ngakawau coal leases, which have been purchased by a New South Wales aud Sydney syndicate, the following cable message was received this aiternoon from the Sydney brokers : - “ Arranging for extension of railway. Apply for leases for 99 years.” This looks like business. Westport, August 15.
