Worth Remembering.
Confide without reservation, but confide in few.
Stones and sticks are flung only at fruitbearing trees. Ashes often fly back in the face of him who throws them.
You will never have a friend if you must have one without failings. He who will not be ruled by the rudder must be ruled by the rock. Satire is a glass wherein beholders generally discover everybody’s face but there own.
A man’s reception may be according to his coat, but his dismissal should be according to bis sense.
Not to laugh when nature prompts it is but a knavish, hypocritical way of making a mask of one’s face.
Affection of wisdom often prevents our becoming wise. Precipitate choice is the forerunner of long repentance. Good humour is the health of the soul, sadness its poison.—Stanislaus,
