The U.S.S. Co’s ss PenguiD, from Nelson and Picton, arrived here at 6.30 am last Friday. She adjusted her compasses in the harbor,, and sailed same afternoon for Lyttelton. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Manapouri from Melbourne, via Southern ports, arrived here at 5.30 am last Friday. She left Melbourne on the 23rd inst, and reached the Bluff on the 28th. She left Lyttelton, where she arrived, via Southern ports, at 6.30 pm on the 31st, arriving here as above. She sailed same evening for Auckland, via East Coast ports. The ss Glenelg left the Manukau at midnight on the 31st nit, and reached Wanganui at 3pm on the Ist inst; sailed again at 4 pm on the 2nd, arriving here at 4 am on Sunday. Light NE winds and tine weather were experienced throughout the passage. The ss Herald, left Greymouth at 2.30 pm on the Ist inst, had fine weather throughout, and arrived here at 9.40 pm on Saturday. She left an hour later for Southern ports. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Wanaka left Manukau at 1.30 pm ou the Ist instant, and arrived at New Plymouth at 7 am on the 2nd;- left again at 10.30 am the same day, and arrived here at 3 am cn Sunday morning. She experienced fine weather throughout the passage. She sailed on Sunday morning for Lyttelton. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Te Anau, from Sydney, via Auckland and East Coast ports, arrived here on Sunday at 9.45 am. She left Sydney at 6.25 pm ou the 25th ultimo, experienced fresh south-westerly winds and fine weather till arrival at Auckland on the 30th at 9.30 am ; sailed next day at 1 pm, called at Gisborne on the Ist and Napier on the 2nd, and sailing from the latter port the same day at 3.30 pm, she arrived as above. She left on Monday afternoon for Melbourne, via Southern ports. The U.S.S. Co’s sa Grafton, from Westport and Nelson, left the latter port at 3 pm on the 2nd iustant, had fine weather throughout, and arrived here at 2.45 am on Sunday. She sailed for Southern ports on Sunday morning. . . , The U.S.S. Co’s ss Australia, from Auckland, via East Coast ports, arrived here ou Saturday morning at 11 o’clock. Mr James Ramßey had charge of the vessel coming down, Captain Crawshaw having been transferred to the Wainui. Mr Kemp, late chief officer of the Te Anau, has been appointed to the permanent command of the Australia. The U.S.S. Co’s sb Hauroto left Dunedin at 7 am on the 29th Ult., and arrived here, via Oamaru and Lyttelton, at 8.30 am on Saturday. She sailed on Saturday evening for Sydney. . , , ' The s.s. Kennedy, which arrived here from Nelson and Endeavor Inlet on Monday morning towed the steam-launch Tainui from Nelson to Endeavor Inlet. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Mahinapua, from the South, arrived here at 7.15 am on Tuesday. She left- Dunedin at 5 pm on tho Ist mst., Timaru next day, Akaroa on the 3rd, and Lyttelton at 2.10 pm on the ’4th, arriving here as above. She experienced fine weather throughout the passage. She sailed same evening for Nelson and Westport. The Government steamer Stella arrived here at 8.30 am on Tuesday, after a tour to the Northern lighthouses. During the trip she called at Onehunga, Kawhia, Opunake, and New Plymouth. Fine weather was experienced throughout the passage. The-U.S.S. Co’s ss Penguin left Nelson at 5 pm on the sth inst, and arrived here, via Picton, on Wednesday, having experienced fine weather throughout. She sailed same afternoon for Southern ports. The ss Waverley left Patea at 7 am on the stit instant, experienced moderate weather to the Strait and thence a heavy south, east gale, which obliged her to take shelter in Ohau Bay for six hours, and ar. rived here at 10 am on Wednesday.
